Studio Assistant

29 Bridges Studio is fiber and knitwear company located in Gaithersburg, MD, specializing in hand-dyed yarn and fiber and knitwear designs. We're looking for a part time team member to provide general support in the studio.

Part time: 1-2 days/wk

Teachers are welcome for the summer.

$17/hr

 

Description

Applicants must be able to spend the majority of the workday actively moving around the studio and be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs.

 

Duties include:

- twisting & labeling finished skeins

- preparing yarn for dyeing

- tidying and organizing the workspace

- verify receipt of goods and materials

- inventory control

- prepare orders for shipping

 

Secondary tasks:

- washing and processing dyed yarn

- cleaning equipment

 

No experience required, training provided.

 

About you:

- Attention to detail and able to carry out repetitive tasks consistently.

- Knowledge and curiosity for the fiber arts. Basic knitting and/or crochet skills a plus but not required.

- Observant and sensitive to color. Memorize a vast catalog of colors by sight and and maintain quality control standards.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Desire to contribute to a friendly and positive work environment.

- Flexible, able to easily adapt to last-minute changes and irregular daily routines depending on workload.

- Comfortable working with computers is a plus but not required.

- Punctuality required.
